International women's day 2025: Time to take individual responsibility

Beyond Greetings: Real Actions for Women's Empowerment

Every International Women's Day, the world floods with greetings, discussions, and debates about whether we even need a special day for women. But here’s the truth: women don’t need just greetings. We need action. We need to act from our every individual positions whether in family, workplace or any influential positions.

International women's day 2025: Time to take individual responsibility to end gender discrimination,
and all kinds of abuse, exploitation and harassment

Instead of debating equality and empowerment, it's time to ask ourselves—what are we actually doing? Not in theory, not in empty promises, but in real, tangible ways, in our homes, workplaces, and society.

Self-Reflection: Are We Part of the Problem?

For women in leadership roles, this is an even bigger responsibility. When we hold positions of power, are we using them to uplift other women? Or are we unconsciously repeating the very patterns of exclusion and bias that we once faced from men?

When a woman reports sexual harassment, do we stand with her, or do we question her credibility? Do we ask why her supervisor targeted her, instead of addressing the real issue? By ignoring or downplaying such complaints, are we indirectly supporting perpetrators?

Power- is the Root Issue

The real problem is not just men or women—it’s power. Those in power, regardless of male or female, often exploit those who are weaker. To bring real change, we need to rethink how power is used in workplaces and beyond. Not all male are discriminating, not all managers are harassing, not all husbands are dominating, not all male are abusing. There are thousands thousands of example of male with good human character - good father, good teacher, good husband, good brother, good friend, good leader, good manager etc, who are inspiring and working for women empowerment. All good person with good deeds need to be acknowledged and awarded. We need mutual respect at first.

Equal Pay, Promotions, and Opportunities: Time for Real Action

If we hold senior positions, we must ask:

  • Are we ensuring equal pay for equal work?
  • Are we promoting and recognizing women based on merit, not biases?
  • Are talented female employees being overlooked for raises and leadership roles?

Change starts with these small but crucial decisions. It’s easy to celebrate Women’s Day with speeches and social media posts. But real empowerment happens when we act—when we create policies, challenge biases, and ensure fairness in every decision we make.

A Call for Mutual Respect

Empowerment is not about favoring one sex over another. It’s about fairness. Mutual respect between men and women is the key to a balanced, just society.

So, this International Women’s Day, let’s do more than greet. Let’s commit to real change. Because only action—not words—can create the world we all deserve.
